Yarn for the Mielie Vest
Mielie is a vest you’ll LIVE in! (I know I already do.)
Designed by Hilary Smith Calais, it’s knit from the top down so you can try it on as you go. You work the from and back separately and join them seamlessly. After the armholes are complete, you join the fronts to the back and continue in one piece. A shawl collar is added later so you can decide just how big you want it to be. Then the ribbing bands come next, and are built for magnetic SNAPS so no buttonholes are needed! (Or, work them in if you like, that’s an easy adjustment 🙂 Finally, we pick up stitches and make the pockets. Awesome.
You’ll need:
The pattern (buy it on Ravelry right from the designer): https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mielie-vest
US #6 needles or size to obtain gauge. I used a circular needle for the body (a good umber of stitches) and then a 16″ circular or DPNs for the armhole edging.
